CREWE ALEX DEFENDER AGREES NEW DEAL

Crewe Alexandra defender Perry Ng has agreed fresh terms with the club, according to reports. Ng signed to remain for an extra year with the League Two outfit.

The youngster’s deal was set to lapse but he has extended for another 12 months with an option to stay for another year if he reaches a certain number of games.

Ng is a grad of the club’s academy. He featured in 20 games for the senior team this term. He played in central midfield as the season moved to a halt.

The manager David Artell said he was to offer Danny Hollands a deal as well but the 31-year old player favoured a switch to non-league Eastleigh. The Hampshire-based club managed to convince the player to drop a level. Hollands, a former Portsmouth star, reportedly consented to the move despite the club finishing 15th in the National League.

Hollands joined from Portsmouth on a free deal last year. He played in 29 games before he picked up a serious hamstring injury. His deal with Eastleigh is believed to be a two-year deal with an option of extending. Read more

WEST HAM MAY PLAY WITHIN CLOSED DOORS

An MP has said that Premier League side, West Ham would have to be forced to play within closed doors if there is any other repeat of the violence that marred Chelsea’s game with West Ham on Wednesday.

During the game, hundreds of fans clashed while seats, bottles and coins were thrown all around at the London Stadium. So far this season on West Ham’s new ground, this has been said to be the latest outbreak of disorder.
“None of these problems were unforeseeable given the nature of the stadium,” said Mark Field MP.

“Within the next 14 days, the West Ham board should present a detailed plan to the Football Association and Premier League outlining what they are going to do about security. There have been clear failings. If there is a repeat of the violence, the next two or three home games for West Ham should be played behind closed doors,” he told Evening Standard.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Damian Collins who is the chairman of the select committee for culture, media and sport, has said that where West Ham fails to properly police their new ground, then they have to stick to playing behind closed doors without the presence of any football fans. Read more

Arsene Wenger says that Zlatan Ibrahimovic may only have a limited impact in the Premier League

Arsene Wenger says that Manchester United forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic may only have a limited impact in the Premier League because of his age.

The much travelled Swedish striker has just arrived in England and will be looking to become one of the few players in the world to have won league titles in all major European leagues. He has been immensely successful in his club career by winning the league titles in Holland, Spain, France, and Italy. He has arrived at United as a free transfer after allowing his contract with PSG to expire.

In the past, Ibrahimovic has especially struggled against English opposition when coming up against these teams in the Champions League. This would come as a surprise since the 34-year-old is one of the physical players capable of performing in almost every scenario. Of course, this record has changed in recent years with Ibrahimovic helping PSG knockout the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City. It did not take long for the 34-year-old to make an impact in the team as he scored inside four minutes after making his debut in a pre-season friendly game. Yet, Wenger says that Ibrahimovic is unlikely to make a huge impact since age will take its toll on the player as the season progresses. Read more
